scan in bar codes with the camera and find out prices on that item locally, or on the web, also in bulk
listen to bird voices in the amazing bird software.
play a drum set with a bazillion permutations.
play the piano with a bazillion permutations.
mix music
talk into it and have it turn into text, answer email with voice.
sing a few seconds of a song into it and have it ID the song. also shows you the lyrics, videos of it on youtube, the history of the song, who all did it, when, etc ad nauseum
see all the baseball games live, if its not on free tv there is a video-game-like representation of it. with more facts at your fingertips than you could ever imagine.
some weekends all the tv games are free. all tv games are available always with subscription that costs way too much $100+us for the year).
but its totally instant update even with the graphic view. a new way to watch games actually. better than radio. much quieter. :>
many banks have apps now, making full banking data and credit card info available.

ipad is an excellent full room multi-user phone using skype. or use headphones for privacy.
ipad browser and internet related functions equivalent in speed etc. to desktop.
MUCH prefer reading books on the kindle vs. the ipad. kindle much lighter, and smaller. ipad WORTHLESS in the sun. too much glare to see the screen.
on th ekindle, pics and maps are impossible to read. too small. cannot blow them up larger. i assumed the ipad would not be that way. WRONG. Still lil un-enlargeable graphics in the books.
ipad much better for research. sometimes when i read on the ipad i barely progress cause i am looking up maps and resources on the web at the same time.
figure out where you are (GPS), get elevation, directions, google maps is available.
update websites, do the html and ftp the files up to the server
really cool amazon.com and facebook apps.
the ipad is the best reading on the toilet device ever.
