Come rainy season, that road is going to be a disaster.

I really think that a combination of a good norther and 3 inches of rain should basically take care of the road. Either that or a nice tropical system with 60 MPH winds and 7 or 8 inches of rain. The problem will then be that the town has to fix the road.

Exactly except that if you check out the photos that are north of the road, it looks bleak. But maybe will all bounce back after the storm

I'm not worried about it being a good road , its always going to be a disaster of a unsuccessful road, Its the damage it will have on the lagoon as a Dam...and its apparently going to be a successful dam.
The lagoon with its tarpon, bone, permit and various wonders of life will die from lack of oxygen when the water quits flowing.

... which won't take long. According to Elito that water already smells stagnant.

I took another walk sunday morning and got further down the muddy "road" this time and out to where this culvert was being put in place. It was a nice surprise. and a huge step in the right direction. There is a larger expanse of water ahead so we will see what happens next.
It is also only when you get out this far that you can see how big the lagoon is that we're talking about. If i'm doing this right, here's a shot looking south from the same spot.

it gives a whole new perspective for those of us that didn't realize how big a body of water this is that would be affected if the flow were to be cut off completely. the water continues north from here, but couldn't get a good shot from where i stood.
I sure hope that these culverts continue (or bridge?). What a difference it would make.....for everyone.
