I dont know for sure what it is but one form of seismic oil exploration uses towed arrays of seismic sensors. It would be good if someone could check if they have damaged coral towing the thing around.

The vessel was at least 10 miles out. I could not see the vessel at waterline with binocs so it was probably 15 miles out, which means it was a lot bigger also. The water depth there must be 1000' at least I would guess.
I don't believe there is coral at that depth. I still think Elbert should torpedo the thing.

I was last involved with seismic surveys in 1960s but at that time there was no contact with the bottom in those surveys.

Thanks, I wondered about that good to know and also the source of the seismic signal? How were you generating the seismic wave?

A "Sparker" which generated a big spark between 2 electrodes...and that caused a shock wave that went out in all directions but the resultant echoes were gathered and sorted electronically to observe the layers in the bottom.
There were also air guns that did essentially the same thing...made a "bang" that created echoes.

I was afraid of that, I guess its better than dynamite but sometimes has bad effect on marine animals it seems. Whale grounding and other behavioral changes in various species. Hope they are using something more modern if such a thing exists.

Have you read the thousands of reports and studies on this issue? The consensus is that your accusations are untrue.
