I go up and down it daily and its still doable but I'm on a trail bike! I don't know if taxis are allowed at night. I don't think so. Why not use the water taxi service its what most people do. Its much better , cheaper , easier, faster, more romantic. Picks up and delivers at all the docks.
A cab ride in the dark on that road would be torture.

Now we've got speed bumps, as if it wasn't bumpy enough! Hotels and residents are filling it with obstacles, some actually dangerous and high enough to cause you to crash!!and large rocks on the side so going around will cause you to crash.
more road rage fodder.

The roads north of the bridge are fairly decent right now. Don't know what it will be like when the rains start. The government fixed them in some places and not at others.

For instance, from around the corner from the Palapa Bar there is a straight stretch that used to be about three lakes. I could not take my electric golf cart through after a rain. Now it is a gentle down slope to in front of my place.

The straight-away is 525 long. Guys driving some of the ATVs, Rangers, 4-wheelers etc. think this is Indianapolis and like to travel wide open.

The dust created is terrible and others on the road have to cover their nose and mouth.

Mostly the dust goes towards the lagoon so Jim Zycan's house gets blanketed. Also there are way too many people - not all tourists either - letting children drive golf carts though here. I truly worry about their safety.

Jim put a couple of ropes and signs up and these guys took delight flying over them. Last week he put in a speed bump. Traffic and other town officials came out and said it was OK. The only change he had to make was raising the signs.

There have been some very nasty people up here.

Here we are in paradise and people pack around a lot of anger. Go figure.

I seem to remember a time when a gentleman who lived up the coast would block the road with trees, debri, rocks, and even dump nails on the road. Then if the moon was right and he was in the right mood he would chase you with a chainsaw.
A speed bump?
yeah right

I never used nails :-) It wasn't a road I was closing it was a short cut to the beach.
And It worked! Nothing like a lunatic with a chainsaw to make people pay attention.

Scubalady the pipe Jim put across the road is ridiculous and dangerous, did you see the little girls knees that crashed her bike on it last week? Its hard to believe traffic dept approved something like that. I bet its going to come to a bad end quickly.

I understand that the bridge will be at the point soon that there won't be any traffic north anyway !
