HERE IS A MESSAGE FROM THE HON. PATTY ARCEO, SAN PEDRO REPRESENTATIVE: ALTHOUGH 'KEITH' HAS BEEN BEATING IT'S WAY UP AND DOWN OUR SHORES, YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY HERE ARE BEING WELL CARED FOR. THEY HAVE PURIFIED DRINKING WATER, ARE WELL FED, HAVE BEEN KEPT SAFE AND COMFORTABLE AND ARE BEING LOOKED AFTER BY LOCAL GOVERNMENT. OUR COMMUNICATION TOWERS ARE PRESENTLY DOWN, BUT IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS, WHEN THIS HAS SETTLED DOWN, EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOUR FRIENDS OR FAMILY MEMBERS WILL PERSONALLY BE CALLING YOU. ANYONE KNOWING THE RESILIENCY OF THE SAN PEDRANOS KNOWS THAT DESPITE THIS SET BACK, WE WILL BE UP AND RUNNING IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS AND WAITING TO WELCOME THE MANY OTHER FRIENDS AND LOVED ONES WHO CARE TO VISIT THIS BEAUTIFUL ISLAND OF OURS.

Thanks for all of your encouragement. It has been great reading all the info you get posted. I still plan to bring my wife and daughter down to visit the beautiful land of Belize in 3 weeks. That is if there is no damage to the Seven Seas or Gaz Coopers boats. If I can bring anything that is really needed, I will. Thanks for the great updates.

Marty: The information from Patty Arceo was much appreciated and I'm sure all of the folks in the US with family on the Cayes are grateful for the reassurance, but I was hoping that you might have a link or an update on some of the local information, i.e., the rangers at Hol Chan, Shipstern and Sarteneja and the San Pedro primary and high schools. Any news is grately appreciated. Thanks, Pepper Chastain (former Peace Corps teacher - San Pedro High School, 90-93). email: pepperchastain@hotmail.com

nothing til the communication gets better... that means everyone is safe, and theres nothing we can do but wait patiently for communications to improve. Everyone on the island is fine, its us that are getting worked up.
we can't help it i know, but it does them or us no good either.
within 24-48 hours, everyone will be phoning. pretend they are camping...
they have good food, and good water. And the comradeship they develop will last a lifetime.
so let them be, you'll be getting a phone call before you know it... then its tears and huggy time....
Peace.

Boy, Marty I am glad you have managed to stay positive.I feel like I have been obsessing with the computer, I havn't left this message board for two days now. I am sure everyone else can dido that. I feel like I am about to freak out,but that would be irrational. My boyfriend and I usually go camping a few times a year, I am sure after this experince he wont want to go for awhile. I hope all of you who are going to try to get some sleep, tonight succeed. Tommorrow feels like years away, but my true gut feelings are telling me that everyone is okay. Soon we will see the faces of our loved ones, and boy I cant wait.
Trying to stay positve,My mother always told me that patience was a virture
Sweet Dreams
