Love it!

BTW: anyone can sit on the sidelines and be critical of others taking risks. Keep up the good work, Rebecca!

I'm lovin' your blog because have always loved your dry wit and general perspective. And now you are really getting to show your "stuff".

Curious tho' . . what happened to the kid's eyeview?

And obviously, I missed those that were offended by one of your posts(blog days). Can understand that some are sensitive, but hey, being true to yourself is difficult in this medium. Keep up the good work and hope some get thicker skin. smile

I love your blog and think it gives a unique insight into San Pedro life. Just one plea on behalf of some of the poor wildlife you've been showing on the blog, which have been poached from the wild and are kept completely inappropriately by people who are not interested in their welfare.

It is possible that tourists reading your blog may think that this sort of thing is OK and encourage it by photographing or even paying to photograph these poor animals. Perhaps you could educate them a bit - as I know you do love animals.

Some of these animals are protected and threatened in the wild due to poaching. You have to have a permit to keep Belizean wildlife. It is very rare that these animals live a happy and healthy life. Their captors don't know how to care for or feed them correctly. If they don't die young from malnutrition and abuse, Coatamundis (or Quash as they are locally known) they are eventually either killed or abandoned to die by their captors.

Quash that have been habituated to people and fed by people cannot be rehabbed and returned to the wild. They live in large social groups and are not pets. They become very dangerous and destructive when sexually mature. If they are not regularly seen by a vet, they are probably carrying parasites and can be a rabies risk. Again, I implore you - your blog is great but a bit of responsibility and a voice for those who don't have one would really be appreciated.
