Hi all - I'm a new poster and new to Belize. We'll be visiting in late June. It will unfortunately be a short trip, only 4 nights, but we look forward to packing a lot in.

We have opted to stay on Ambergris Caye as snorkeling the reef is a primary interest. Our flight arrives on a Monday at 10:25am. Is it really necessary for us to book our flights to AC in advance or can we just walk up and purchase when we arrive, going with whatever airline suits our schedule?

I would suggest letting your hotel book them for you. Most of the hotels are agents of the airline, and that way you will be assured a seat on the most convenient flight. If your flight arrives early, they will put you on an earlier flight, if your flight is late, they will hold the seat for the first available flight. Otherwise, you may have to stay at International behind all the other people who had their tickets pre-booked.

Definately have a booking as mentioned above. If you want a 10% discount you can book it yourself. Below are the details tried to quote it from gecko_girl but failed miserably so cut and pasted it.

Book online via the Hot Guide (or via the mobile phone app) and get 10% discount on any Tropic flight, any time with no restrictions.

When we first began visiting SP, we always booked our flight ahead of time on Maya's or Tropic's website. However, now we just walk up to the counter where both airlines will give a 15% walk-up cash discount. We have never had a problem getting a flight to SP by walking up. You will save enough for a lunch or a few Belikins. Have fun!
