Bob - it would be nice for you to stop by Birdland. The front of my house is under construction but the birds don't seem to mind. If my door is open I am home!
Criminals WARNING. If my door is closed Pepe is home!

Dr. I read your profile - how loose does one have to be to get into your bananas? LOL
Honestly, do you live on the island? Can I get some shoots from you?

You could get into my bananas anytime. Loose is good,I'm a bad boy, but not a requirement. I'm on northern end of the penensula, not on the Caye. But I do have some apple bananas grow year round and have been planting more. I keep some in that have ripen in the freezer and that has worked out well

I have a banana patch - is that what it is called? It can't be called an orchard. I orignally had two apple banana plants but they grew legs and walked away.
If you are not on the caye - where is the 'penensula' you are on?

What do they look like? How do you know you're getting an apple banana?

Thanks!

My wife calls them baby bananas, but you really won't know they are apple until you taste them.
Tacogirl, that has been the only stand I have found them. Maybe we'll be lucky this time!! smile

Most vendors keep the apple banana's on the hand and hang them towards the back of their booth. They cost twice ($2 BZ for 5) what the regular ones do but keep much longer. When I find them I usually by several dollars worth.
Think of it - regular banana's cost a dime each here! I try to eat two a day along with one apple. The cost of the apple ($1.50 US for small ones)makes up for the savings.
Does anyone know where these apples are now coming from? They are crisp, juicey and sweet but the skins are not chewable. The birds appreiate the donations.
