I have friends and relatives that will most likely use that route coming from Sweden. They can get cheaper fares to Cancun and avoid going through the TSA in the States.

Most Europeans & Canadians MUCH prefer NOT to go through the US.
It has become such a pain in the %&$ as they are abusive and make sure your travel experience in the US is the absolute worse it can be!!! Thanks TSA!

Making this flight Cancun to San Pedro would be the worse mistake ever!!
How dare they (SP people) even think that making the plane land there would be an advantage for anyone???
Yes SP might be the most popular destination in Belize..BUT it is far from being the only place visited in this beautiful country that has soooo much more to offer!!
And actually more people travel to the rest of the country a lot more than just to the grocely overpriced, pretentious, commercial/Cancunish rip off that is SP!! Think about the ENTIRE country instead of thinking only of yourselves!!

So what if you have to pay from international to SP??? You would have to to get anywhere else internationally anyways!!!
Other Belizeans and tourist would have to pay to get anywhere else in the country... so why have them pay more to land in SP (a place they may not want to go at all!!) and then have to pay to get back to the mainland????

What would you do next???
Force people to spend the first night stay in SP???
Thanks for suggesting making "hostages" of tourists and people trying to find a cheaper way to get to Belize!!

Let's be fair and reasonable... the Int'l Airport (Phillip Goldson) is the ONLY WAY TO GO!!!

I think what TruBelize is trying to say is that there is a huge risk of having tourists get a sniff of San Pedro. They will instantly fall in love with San Pedro.

TruBelize, I'm Canadian and fly through Houston on my way to Belize. Don't have any trouble with TSA, that is significantly worse or more frustrating than what I experience here or France, Spain, etc.

I will agree, don't want to fly through Miami.

As for making the tourists coming in from Cancun, prisoners on San Pedro, IMO that would hardly be the case. As it is now, flying into BZE immediately puts them into the situation where they are required with time and money to get anywhere else they want to go within Belize.

I agree seashell. I just flew back from Italy and my most stressful and humiliating experiences occured in the Florence and Rome airports. The US leg was easy breezy. I also fly to Belize through Houston. Don't like Miami.

Well put....I have posted a couple times on this board alone with regard to missing items from Miami....Since 1990 I've heard these stories and it does not change....We have not flown through Miami since 1999....Still surprised that they don't get a handle on it....

How about a route that serves both...twice weekly to SP and daily to BZE or a Cancun flight that comes off BZE and has the option of picking up passengers at SP before heading north, just like Tropic handle's the CC traffic.

Am I missing something, I just read the article in the Ambergris Today and didn't see anything stating where it will land in Belize.
