Trust me.

And if SP is all they see then they would have no clue as to what BELIZE is really about... sad that SP could be the only image tourists have of what is a truely beautiful country (well the rest of it anyways!!)

I will agree, don't want to fly through Miami.

As for making the tourists coming in from Cancun, prisoners on San Pedro, IMO that would hardly be the case. As it is now, flying into BZE immediately puts them into the situation where they are required with time and money to get anywhere else they want to go within Belize.

Yes i will agree that tourists will have additional fees to get to their end destination in Belize (as they already do)...
What i was reffering to and upset me is that people from SP (who posted here) assume that tourists ONLY want to see SP and that the flight should land there.
That would actually add extra fees to anyone going anywhere else in the country...and like i said not everyone comes to Belize for SP...thank g!

Actually because the fees are much lower from any other airport in Belize except BZE there would be little if any additional expense. Might even be lower. That is if you assume they are flying to another destination in Belize.

The flight from Cancun will land at BZE I'll bet.

I don't recall a huge kerfuffle over the idea of making Placencia an international portal.
If Tropic deems it a good business move to fly in and out of San Pedro, it would be due to demand by tourists and not due to any thought of imprisoning tourists or depriving other locations of visitors.
Rivalry between locations in Belize seems counter-productive - we're all Belize and the more we work together the better it is for everybody!
Our "rival" is Mexico - so let's get those folks from Cancun down here pronto.

That is absolutely false!!!
A one way ticket (in Oct 2012) from SP to PLA will cost you $24.50us more than BZE to PLA ... so NO SAVINGS at all from landing in SP... actually costs more!!

I fully agree that PLA would not have been a better solution (for the country) than SP...that is unless the Int'l Airport project would have been realized... but that is a whole other topic!!
I also agree with your second statement.. yes rivalery is counter productive... and that is EXACTLY why i wrote my first post (people suggesting SP is the only good solution for the Cancun-Belize flights)!!!
Belize has everything to gain from increasing tourism to the ENTIRE country but being from another area of Belize i am completely fed up with the arrogance of many SP'nians thinking that that is the only place that brings in tourists or that it is so much more important than the rest of the country!
Why can't we all get along??? lol!!

Dear TruBelize
From your posts it sounds like you have had a bad experience in San Pedro. Are you suggesting that people get a better picture of ALL of Belize by flying into Ladyville?

Are you not aware that most of the operators in San Pedro promote trips to the mainland?

I would like to see some number regarding final destinations of the passengers who land at BZE. I know that data is collected I don't know if anyone does anything with it.

Does it bother you that cruise ships dock in Belize City and that is all thousands of people see of our beautiful country?

I think TruBelize may not be aware of the fact that this website is AmbergrisCaye.com - it is designed to focus on and promote San Pedro and Ambergris Caye. There are sections for other areas of Belize and sections for general chats - but the main directive is ensuring that the businesses and attractions of our island are highlighted.
