Maybe all that equipment donated to the police and other public officials was just a Trojan horse with some of it containing transmitting devices. That would be a clever thing to do.

Corruption in police and goverment in Belize I belive is alive and well but those who live there may want to turn a blind eye to it all. I think John has a lot to be listened to.Look deep into what he has to say.

You have VERY VALID POINTS and I am one that actually believes J McAfee although he has taken it to extreme levels but it is NO SECRET the Police are corrupt and prior to this terrible incident the locals and residents were working towards alternative methods of policing the island since the Police cannot be trusted and are corrupt through and through however the truth is nobody wants to play on this and wants to keep it under wraps because its an internal problem but I say this just might be the time to actually come out and address this issue because it might take this aweful incident to be able to do something about the islands security at the same time.

Every islander knows the island has a BIG PROBLEM with the Police as it currently stands, and its time to face it because until that can be cleaned up how can the island move forward.

A simple question should be asked about the Police today

WHERE IS THE VIDEO OF THE 2 OFFICERS THAT ROBBED THE DRUNK IN THE MORNING OF HIS EXPENSIVE TENNIS SHOES AND HIS WALLET AND WHY HAS IT NOT BEEN RELEASED TO THE PUBLIC AND THE 2 OFFICERS IDENTIFIED TO THE PUBLIC AND WHY DO WE NOT KNOW WHAT HAS HAPPENED IN THAT CASE.

THERE WAS A VERY CREDIBLE EYE WITNESS TO THIS AND ALSO A CCTV CAMERA THAT CAUGHT THEM RED HANDED

I know people don't want this aired right now, but there is absolutely no point trying to say we don't have a problem WHEN WE CLEARLY HAVE A MASSIVE PROBLEM.

Maybe this is the time to demand action because right now you have the fox's guarding the chicken house.

cracked up

Keep ya head stuck in the sand dude

PEOPLE NEED TO WAKE UP, the writing is on the wall you either choose to do something about it and take whatever consequences there is as you rebuild, or you continue on the same path and just KEEP DOING NOTHING AND ACCEPTING THE SITUATION.

Gaz is correct, and I'm just a vister with local friends who live on the island and am only there a few times a year and I see it.I've been there first hand I seen it with my own eyes. Someone needs to find some real police with real values and real morals and put them incharge. its a sad thing for such a beautiful country. People on the island need to speak out for change.its sad very sad. stop turning a blind eye to corupution.excuse the spelling

Ah scientologists, Beach Boy?
So while I was at work, McAfee has gone from man on the run for murder to lover boy to Sir John the good.
I am sticking with egomaniacal narcissist, who has turned a tragedy involving his neighbor who was loved and will be missed by his family into a media circus tragi-comedy filling his selfish fantasies.
The guy is a jerk, egocentric prick, who knows how to work the media and, I guess, many of us!

Gaz - Keep up the reminder about the government not identifying the corrupt cops.
Here people are very committed to family - even the bad actors in the family. It seems to me that this is so engrained in the local culture that they do not see a way out of this. So if family X protects their criminals I guess they understand that family Y protects their kin, the government employees protect theirs and the police take care of their own.
When asked what you liked best about the island everyone always says "The people." What I like most is the diversity of people. Just as the US is no longer majority white San Pedro is no long majority San Pedronan (sic) and this fact may be what is needed to manage change. Don't get me wrong, there are many things I would not change but the attitude about honesty and abiding laws does need to change.
