I thought it was reported that McAfee's dogs ran loose.....tourists and neighbors had reported that they had been chased and bullied by his dogs. I had also understood that he had close to 12 dogs.

They ran loose in the confines of the fence. The complaint was that the dogs would aggressively rush the fence when someone walked/drove by.

The gates were often open and the dogs actually bit passers-by.

The "dogs" did bite one person that I know personally. Unfortunately, there are many problem dogs in this neighborhood that do not belong to Mr. McAfee that have also caused problems with biting and scaring people on the beach. Having all the bites and scares lumped into one neighbor because of the prejudice of certain posters is not helping us fix the dog situation in Mata Grande. I personally have never seen the gates open in my many many trips past this property, but prior to the second fence going up, I have seen the dogs at the fence and it can be scary. There are several other irresponsible owners in this very same stretch of beach that need to see themselves in some of these posts. In addition Mr. McAfee's dogs are not the first and likely will not be the last dogs that have been poisoned in this area. I do not believe others were poisoned inside their own fences but I suppose that is also a possibility. Five of Mr. McAfee's dogs have died and there are still very scary loose dogs in Mata Grande.

Perhaps Saga should be called to round up the troublesome animals. I have been there and seen the gates open so I am not just making this up!

But I am sure there are other offensive dogs in the area too. It is a problem all over the island which is why we see mass poisonings from time to time. The folks that have to travel the roads and beaches every day to go to and from work get tired of the chasing and biting and take matters into their own hands.

Dog owners need to keep their dogs on a leash or kept within their yards.

My neighbors and I faithfully keep our dogs fenced. Unfortunately others don't, so loose dogs wander by causing a huge "bark-up" amongst our dogs. Frustrating!

Still thinking about poisoning dogs, sounds like we've a bunch of slow learners in the neighborhood considering someone just got shot in the head for it! I would shy away from poisoning dogs for fear of being found floating face down in one's swimming pool!

We are pretty fortunate in our neighbourhood - almost all of my immediate neighbours keep their dogs within their fences and bring them into the house at night . The few that wander around are our early warning system for strangers in the 'hood. I hate having to scoop their poop but at least they are fixed and have owners that feed them and get them their shots etc.

Elbert! You don't know that Mr Faull was murdered due to the McAfee dogs being poisoned?! While I doubt that was coincidence, I'm not sure it was causal.
