Is it true they are widening the roads and going to detour traffic further west of the Palapa Bar. I heard this may happen form just north of Pirates Treasure bar. The straight away up to the Palapa Bar would be for bicycles and carts only and taxis and trucks would be diverted further west to the new road.
I just heard this from a guy in the area so it could be merely talk. Just curious.

The main road is supposed to along the major power lines is the western/lagoon road. Currently most of the traffic runs through a residential area.

The roads aren't being widened but they are being fully claimed, so folks that have their landscaping, walls or any type of structure outside of their property lines that encroach on the road have been asked to remove them or the town will remove it for them.

Technically you can't put up a 30 ft wall - you have to get permission and there is a height restriction on perimeter walls.

Back in the day when Maya House and others in the area were built people just built, they didn't often bother with getting a surveyor.

And for those that choose to now hire a surveyor - make sure he is licensed! There are a few folks on the island the purport to be surveyors but they are not qualified or licensed and often make outrageous mistakes.

I know a lot of the folks in the area received a written letter/notice. One of the owners in the US sent me a copy of the letter weeks ago.

I can imagine how upsetting this is, but it is sadly part of progress. You can't fall in love with stuff that is put out on the road.

My neighbour wanted to beautify the area and plant trees in the roadway - and he has done so. One day they will be bulldozed down too. But for now we can enjoy them.

There seems to be many hints as to what may be happening and why but no direct info. What do you think the reason or reasons are?

Sorry, I blame our internet here. If you reload, they will often come up. They are coming up fine for me just now:
