I don't have a dog in this hunt but I would stay away from IMG. You are much better off going with a European insurer such as IHI out of Denmark, a good German insurer would be much better. Just be honest on your application and make sure you know what you want. In my experience going with the European insurers you will like get treated much when it comes time to file a claim. All insurers talk a good game but very few actually pay claims and then not without a huge hassle.

We have, very fortunately, never had to file a claim when we had IMG. I do believe IMG is underwritten by Sirius International who is headquartered in Stockholm with several offices around Europe and Bermuda.

Listen, I am not trying to argue with anybody and am only trying to be helpful. A company I founded and owned until a few years ago manages claims for foreign insurance companies. There are all kinds of underwriters and risk pools and managing underwriters and on and on. What counts is the sharp end of the stick - when you get sick or hurt how do they act and what do they pay. I say again stay away from IMG.

I've had an insurance policy with IMG for over 4 years. In that time I have made several small claims, from well being check ups and vaccinations for the kids to my maternity check ups and a c-section delivery . They have always been great to deal with and paid all claims in a timely manner.

Did you look at the other reviews by people of IMG? I know the Braugher group out of Indianapolis and I stand by what I said. Now I am out of it. Good luck and don't forget what a big decision this is.

Medical Evacuation insurance (Medjet Assist) and a very high deductible major medical is what I would do.
