New to Belize and this forum.
My wife and I have Belize on our travel radar for early 2015. We'd like to spend a couple weeks on the island of Ambergris Caye.
In terms of accommodations, we prefer something a bit more on the quiet side. To be more specific, we don't want to see children running around at our resort. We work with kids in our day jobs and need a break from the "rug rats".
What are some accommodations on the island that are better suited for adults and NOT families?

No guarantees, but chances are that there won't be too many kids running around at Victoria House.

By the way, considering your um, preferences, you'd best not visit during Easter.

Mata Chica does not allow children under 12

Isn't El Secreto the same. From memory so needs confirmation.

A 12 yr old looks like a child and behaves as a child.

Mata Chica or El Secreto will give you the peace and quiet you seek.
Another venue, pricey but private and lovely - Azul Villas.

A Vacation Rental would work too unless you want all the facilities a Resort offer.

A lot will depend on the timing of your visit. As previously mentioned, a 12 year old is still a child and I have encountered many rambunctious 12 year olds splashing adults at a pool bar while their parents obliviously sip their fifth rum punch.

Try for a smaller resort such as one with only one bedroom units (no extra room for kids) during a time kids are in school.

We are 6 miles north of town.

Cocotal Inn and Cabanas - small property (7 units), private and attractive accommodations at reasonable prices. We get very few children as most units accommodate only 2 adults. We are 2 1/2 miles north in a quiet area of resorts and private homes. Easy access to town by free bikes, golf cart (rentals on site) or water taxi.
