I have a wonderful electric ATV (configured like a golf cart). It will get you most anywhere a Polaris will (I used to have one) and will do it quietly and without bothering other people. You can even have a conversation with your passengers. Yes, it is four wheel, rides up like a Polaris, has a winch, etc. A real plus is a solar panel on the top that will charge your batteries when your cart is sitting in the sun. Everyone should try one of these if you can find one. Don't cost much more than a Polaris and you save a ton of wear and tear on your ears, the friendliness of your fellow islanders and money.

Hi Emily, We just want to use it to get around when we are living in town, we can take the boat from Sapphire as they will have 2 or 3 trips to town per day. I am thinking i may be able to find a friend i can leave it with in town and use it once were are dropped off at Fidos by boat.

That sounds like a great option, CaptOneIron. I hate Polari and their noise as well, SimonB, but knowing that Debbie is going to be living 9 miles north, I couldn't imagine trying to take a standard golf cart up there. Now that I see that's not what she plans, I retract my recommendation -- a Polaris is certainly not necessary in San Pedro proper.

If Debbie, or anyone else, is going to live 9 miles north then I suggest the more appropriate mode of transportation would be a boat. It's what everyone north of the cut used for many years and costs about the same as a Polaris. It was the only mode of transportation that I used when I lived at 4.5 miles north and I wouldn't have considered anything else.

Yep, sounds like that's what she plans. I misinterpreted her post asking about a golf cart. I do agree with you completely.
