Thought that title might get you to check out this thread!

Ok, no matter how hard I have tried (shoved, pushed, squeezed, cajoled, begged. . .), I can't fit all my stuff in one bag. I will therefore be bringing two (They are both about the size of maximim carry on w/wheels and pull out handle).

I remember someone saying you have to pick up bags in Houston in customs and move to conveyor belt for next plane.

Is this true for Dallas too (flying AA)? Will I be retreiving bags in Belize and taking to Maya air?

Also read no razors. Is this just for carry on?

Why isn't it the 26th already!!!! Please, you guys managed to get me a date, why can't you just make the earth rotate a little faster for a few hours????

hey elly...i fortunately(or unfortunatly sometimes!) work for an airline and know the answer to this. you may take razors with you onboard as long as it is a disposable razor. no razors that have a straight edge and no knives at all..used to be over 4 or 6 inches but even a swiss army knife cannot be taken anymore. sometimes they will even take cuticle sissors...now that will damage the average man!!!! i bead and would like to take my beading cutters and crimpers but i am afraid they will take them..too expensive to replace. dont worry your pretty little head...wed. will be here before you know it!!!!oh..i forgot to add....this is for carry on luggage. you can still check just about everything. now go to your bags and unpack half that mess you have in there!!!! you will not need it!!!!!!!!!how much room does a few swimsuit, slippers, and a sarong take up. like i read on the board the other day...dont even think about bringing anything that resembles a blowdryer or hairspray. i dont know how many islands you've been to but the wind and humidity wreak havok on your head...its always a bad hair day so we all just have to get over it.!!!!i always overpack and i am trying very hard not to do that this time. my husband keeps saying "you dont need that" and throws it out of my stack...and you know what...i dont need it!!! good luck!!!!

From LAX your bags should go direct to BZE.
You will have to take your bags thru customs in Belize City & to Maya.....Just put on a big smile & someone will be glad to help you with them......John--Can't wait to get there Sunday............

I know you are right. But each time I think I don't need something, I remember how cute I look in it! LOL

Will try to eliminate items one by one over the next few days. Easier said than done I am finding out! Did not realize I had such an attatchment to things. Do you think 16 pairs of shorts too many? LOL

PS. Probably would be funnier if wasn't true! I just removed five from the case. Will shoot for a few more tomorrow.

If you take anything more than a couple pair of shorts and 2-3 tee shirts and a swimsuit you are taking too much! They have laundry service there. Take a hat and plenty of sunscreen.....Forget the makeup.....nobody cares! You can buy more tee shirts there if need be.Take Bug stuff too, but that's all you need.

You guys all have someone to vent with about your excitement . My friends have now turned on their answering machines and are screening all calls in an effort to escape talk about "the trip."

Remember- I have, and will be off work until August 28. Have nothing better to do than read this board all day and dream of Belize!

It is on your way back to the U.S. that you will have to pick up your bags in Dallas (or Houston). On your way there, they will check them through to Belize City, where you will claim them, go through customs, and then on to Maya (or Tropic) Air.

Ditto on the hairdryer/hairspray. Leave them home. Also, forget makeup... foundation just slips right off your face in the humidity, you definitely won't need blush , and any eye makeup you usually use will soon be wiped away with perspiration.

I'm still working on the ideal Ambergris wardrobe. I know these things:
It must be 100% cotton (and lightweight)
Tops/dresses must not have any sleeves (even short)
Dresses should be free flowing, and have no waistband.
Nothing can fit tightly... air must circulate!
Restrictive undergarments must be avoided if at all possible.
My shorts are all "fitted", and I always end up wearing my hubby's shorts, which are about 2 sizes too big, but much more comfy and cooler.

And if you have long hair, be sure and bring something to get it up off of your neck (and out of your face in the breeze).

My suggestions... for what they're worth!

My friends, the ones missing out on this adventure, aren't talking to me any more either! I also know what you mean about the idle time issue..I'm off FOREVER!!

seriously, buy the space bags that you push the air out of (not vacuum). they take up 50% of the space.

they also help to keep the humidty out of your stuff. guys, you don't understand a girl NEEDS stuff.

if you have frizzy hair (i do, to an extreme), pantene's sleek & smooth gel (use extra) beat the heat there

ps - bz customs took frank's new fancy $40 butane lighter. bye-bye. todd could not carry two bics on him, i had to take one. FYI on the anality (is that a word, KC?).
