Sargassum Forecast from January 21 to January 27:
Impacts from sargassum are expected to continue minimal to moderate this week with the chance of a few mats drifting ashore. San Pedro has a medium probability and a moderate expected impact.
Tropical Weather Outlook:
There are no organized tropical features across the Atlantic basin at this time. Updates will resume at the beginning of the 2021 hurricane season (June 1).

The Caribbean Sea
There is a Gale
Warning in the south central Caribbean northwest of the coast of
Colombia. Elsewhere across the Caribbean, fresh to strong trades are noted
in the south central Caribbean, with mainly moderate to fresh
trades elsewhere. Seas are mainly 3-6 ft across the basin outside
of the stronger winds near the coast of Colombia. Mainly fair
conditions are noted on satellite imagery with isolated trade wind
showers possible.
High pressure north of the area will continue to support fresh to
strong winds over the south central Caribbean. Mainly moderate to
fresh trades will prevail elsewhere, pulsing to fresh to strong
near the Gulf of Honduras early next week. Northerly swell will
propagate into the Tropical N Atlantic waters early next week.
On Ambergris Caye this morning it's sunny with an expected high temperature for the day of 85 f. The sea is calm and the wind is from the East at 13 mph.
Generally just the easterly Caribbean winds this morning, with some cloud, more so towards the south, but resulting in a lot of cloud cover, like raised fog, over most of central and south Belize this morning, dropping just a little bit of drizzle.
Looks as if this morning will remain cloudy for most, sun in the north, but get brighter later, only a small chance of any significant rain.

River Conditions
REGION 7 - On the RIO HONDO at Blue Creek, Santa Cruz, San Antonio, San Roman and Douglas, levels are below normal and steady. On the NEW RIVER at Tower Hill and Caledonia levels are below normal and rising.
REGION 9 - On the MACAL RIVER reservoir levels at all BECOL facilities are below the spillway: while at San Ignacio, levels are below the low-level bridge and steady. Levels on the MOPAN RIVER at Benque Viejo Town are near normal and falling. The BELIZE RIVER at Double Run is above normal and is rising slowly. The CROOKED TREE LAGOON remains at FLOOD STAGE and continues to fall slowly.
REGION 11 - Levels on the SIBUN RIVER at Freetown Sibun is near normal and has seen a minimal rise. Levels on the SOUTHERN LAGOON near Gales Point Village are above normal and steady. The 'watersheds on the EASTERN SLOPES OF THE MAYAN MOUNTAINS are normal and steady. The SITTEE RIVER at Kendal Bridge is above normal and steady. On MONKEY RIVER at the Swasey and Bladen Branches levels are near normal and steady. Levels on the RIO GRANDE at San Pedro Columbia and Big Falls South are near normal and steady. On the MOHO RIVER at Blue Creek South and Jordan levels are normal and steady. On the TEMASH RIVER near Crique Sarco levels are below normal and falling.
REGION 13 - On the SARSTOON RIVER levels are below normal and falling.
FLOOD FORECAST
REGION 7 - On the RIO HONDO at Blue Creek, river levels are expected to remain below normal and at Santa Cruz, San Antonio, San Roman and Douglas to the coast, a minimal increase in river levels is expected. On the NEW RIVER at Tower Hill and Caledonia, normal ad steady levels are expected.
REGION 9 - On the MACAL RIVER, reservoir levels is expected to remain below the spillway at all BECOL facilities: at San Ignacio, levels are expected to remain below the low-level bridge. On the MOPAN RIVER at Benque Viejo Town, river levels are expected to become normal.
On the BELIZE RIVER at Double Run, river levels are expected to become steady over the next few days. On the CROOKED TREE LAGOON, FLOOD STAGE is expected to continue to recede.
REGION 11 - On the SIBUN RIVER at Freetown Sibun, levels is expected to become steady the recede to normal levels over the next few days. On the SOUTHERN LAGOON near Gales Point, levels are expected to become normal. In watersheds on the EASTERN SLOPES OF THE MAYAN MOUNTAINS, normal levels are expected to continue. On the SITTEE RIVER, at Kendal Bridge river levels are expected to decrease to near normal over the next few days. on the Swasey and Bladen branches of the MONKEY RIVER. levels are expected to become normal. On the RIO GRANDE at San Pedro Columbia and Big Falls South normal and steady levels are expected. On the MOHO RIVER at Blue Creek South and Jordan, a minimal increase in river level is expected. Levels on the TEMASH RIVER near Crique Sarco are expected to increase minimally over the next few days.
REGION 13 - On the SARSTOON RIVER. a minimal increase in river levels is expected.
