Scottish toy pirate ship 'Adventure II' resumes the journey back home to Scotland A fascinating and adventurous project initiated by a pair of siblings in Scotland involving a Playmobil pirate ship called 'Adventure II or A2' continued Saturday, February 6th, after the toy boat spent ten days in Belize. A2 is currently aboard the catamaran "Sailing Lost" bound for Isla Mujeres, Mexico, where the Playmobil will set sail. A2 needs to sail the ocean currents taking it around Cuba, passing Florida, USA, and then into the Gulf Stream back across the Atlantic Ocean, heading home to Scotland in the United Kingdom. To increase A2's chances to successfully sail the high seas back to Europe a creative improvement of the keel was needed. A modified keel would allow the currents to set the course rather than drift the little boat to shore. The famous toy ship was welcomed by Captain Shark's boatyard, who took on the task to make the necessary modifications. After undergoing the much-needed repairs, A2 was fitted with a heavy-duty keel. As plans continue for a date and place for the re-launch, the Playmobil managed to get a ride to Mexico from Belize City. Vigna took A2 to Tropic Air, which transported it to Belize City on Thursday, February 4th. The coordination happened through the efforts of Belize Sailing Vacations, who coordinated its departure with Sailing Lost. The Belize Immigration Department even cleared A2 before sailing off to Mexico. Click here to read the rest of the article in the San Pedro Sun=============== Thanks to the awesome guys at Sailing Lost , we have relaunched! A2 is just North of the island of Cozumel, Mexico. We tried to hit the main north current, but we have slipped into the eddy behind the island. Hopefully she will get caught in the current north again in the next couple of hours. We have tried very hard not to be blown east, looks like it is going to be a fight for A2. ![[Linked Image]](//Ambergriscaye.com/art8/147306871_233305705138522_8174149027304941832_n.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](//Ambergriscaye.com/art8/147648294_233305715138521_5311167487047124851_n.jpg)

In just over a week we will finally reach the west coast of Florida! We are not quite sure where, as we are at the mercy of the loop current in the GofM. Do we have any friends in Florida? The little toy boat will need her batteries charged. Then we will hopefully find someone to drop her out to sea on the East coast of Florida. From here we should manage to drift our way home to Scotland! She has now travelled 10,000 km across the Atlantic and through the Caribbean. Only 7,500 km to go! You can track her in real time. It updates every 6 hrs. https://track-adventure.squarespace.com/ ![[Linked Image]](//Ambergriscaye.com/art8/147992335_234558141679945_444418496749601234_n.jpg)

For those following the Adventure ll it is making some good progress. Looping current - just to say to our readers that this is what the Loop Current has been doing since we joined it on the 8th February - as you will see, it is not as easy to predict as the Yucatan or Florida Currents and pulses quite severely.
5430 km travelled! In 7 days Pickle & Pipsqueak will break their own Guinness World Record! This would not have been possible without the support of everybody that has helped us! We are so close!!!

HELLO CUBA! Can anyone help us with our record breaking adventure? Do we have friends in Playa El Morrillo, Honda Bay or Harlem? Today we're hitting the north coast of Cuba our little toy boat will run aground somewhere very close to you. Hopefully we'll find someone who leaves her at sea to continue her journey home. From Cuba we should manage to get home to Scotland! We have now traveled almost 12.000 km across the Atlantic and the Caribbean. Only 4.000 km left! You can track it in real time. Updated every 6 hrs. https://track-adventure.squarespace.com/![[Linked Image]](//Ambergriscaye.com/art8/153656458_243843394084753_8184272468928606452_n.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](//Ambergriscaye.com/art8/153820434_243843320751427_6272138071741562798_n.jpg)

UPDATE: Thursday 25th February at 0600 UTC. Adventure 2 seemed to be turning well throughout yesterday, but has turned back 20 degrees to 094 as she is determined to hug the coastline. She is speeding up slowly, now at 1.3 knots. She was 27 miles (43km) away from Havana and is now just 90 miles (145km) from breaking her old World Record when she passes directly south of Key West. She is still 250 miles (400km) from Miami. Wee one - do as you are told, and get back to the safer North Easterly course - PRETTY PLEASE ![[Linked Image]](//Ambergriscaye.com/art8/153635397_244456467356779_4974110558420915822_o.jpg)

A little bit further east and it will get picked up by the Gulf Stream up the coast of the U.S. and on to Europ, it's looking good. ![[Linked Image]](//Ambergriscaye.com/art8/155142035_10160448799458273_8990965676943158462_n.jpg)

UPDATE: Monday 1st March at 06:00 UTC - Adventure 2 had a busy night, but no hangover as she is driving! She has sailed 44.8 miles (72 km) since yesterday morning and has slowed down a touch to 1.7 knots. She is now just 105 miles (170 km) from Miami... A NEW WORLD RECORD! Over 6088 km (3,783 miles). ![[Linked Image]](//Ambergriscaye.com/art8/155205721_247100947092331_1048123644635279879_o.jpg)

After breaking a world record, she was picked up again near Miami. MacNeill and the boys asked how far it was from Miami back to here in Scotland...oh my...so, after a good nights sleep, I "guesstimated" the Adventure 2 track, and then "super-guesstimated" a lot more with potential current speed and came up with the most "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious guesstimate" ever guessed!!! 5,050 miles in 143 days (so, if she sets sail on the 10th March she will reach Ireland (my guess) around the end of July-ISH! It's all in fun...with a tadge of seriousness thrown in - and who doesn't remember that fantastic Europe song..."It's the Final Countdown"? ![[Linked Image]](//Ambergriscaye.com/art8/156412612_248531240282635_6550773399430272227_o.jpg)

Equipped with a Belizean keel Scottish toy Pirate Ship A2 makes it to Miami, Florida USA After modified with a 'Made in San Pedro' heavy-duty keel, the now record-breaker Scottish toy pirate ship, Adventure II (A2), is closer to its destination in Scotland after as respite in Miami. On Tuesday, March 2nd, Ellie Alvarez and her father Ulises from Miami tracked down the Playmobil toy pirate ship and rescued it near the Florida coast. The toy boat has been in the spotlight, appearing in TV networks like Telemundo and NBC Miami. A2 will get an overhaul for its next leg of the trip across the Atlantic to Europe. Its tracker will be re-charged, and a solar panel installed to keep its GPS charged while monitored across the Atlantic for an estimated 143 days. This is the number of days calculated if it picks up the Atlantic current into Europe. By the time it was picked up near Miami, A2 had proved to be a record-breaker for the farthest distance traveled at sea by a toy boat- 6,088 kilometers (3,783 miles). This is a greater distance covered by its predecessor, Adventure, which was released from Scotland in 2017. As soon as A2 goes through its necessary modifications and the weather permits, it will be launched from the Florida coast.
