Photos from Market Day
With so much commerce on the island, new businesses popping up due to the pandemic and great services provided by individuals, it was only fitting that the San Pedro Town Council create a Market Day. It's a great opportunity for businesses to showcase their services and products. It's the first of many says the Town Council. Market day is open until 5pm today.

Mayor Gualberto "Wally" Nunez and Councilor Adaly Guerrero would like to thank the vendors for a successful market day! As we neared closing time all of the participants began packing up and cleaning their areas, leaving the Saca Chispas Football Field clean and tidy! We appreciate the hard work and professionalism of each vendor as they conducted their business today.

A special thanks to the teams that made this weekend happen! May this weekend be the first of many commerce centered events on the island.

SPTC promotes local businesses with the first-ever Women in Business Expo and Market Day

To start the economy moving and promote businesses on the island, particularly those newly created since the COVID-19 pandemic, the San Pedro Town Council (SPTC) hosted two events showcasing the hard work and creativity of island business owners. On Friday, March 26th, the first one was a 'Women in Business Expo' featuring female entrepreneurs, and the following day was Market Day, promoting a variety of large and small businesses.

Both events took place at the Honourable Louis Sylvestre Sporting Complex and attracted many shoppers. The commerce-geared event offered great deals on an assortment of products. Deputy Mayor Dianeli Aranda led the Women in Business Expo in collaboration with islander Kristina Romero who is a commissioner of the National Women's Commission, and Mayor Gualberto 'Wally' Nuñez.

Everything local at the San Pedro Market Day

Following the restrictions set on travel and movement due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some of these opportunities to take part in local activities seem far way removed. Thankfully, the worst days are behind us, and we are finally moving forward. Considering all the health and safety protocols, and to stimulate the economy, San Pedro's local government hosts a monthly San Pedro Market Day. The event promotes local entrepreneurs by providing a safe market venue for both visitors and residents to visit.

Market Days are a global concept offering consumers the ability to discover artisan products and connect with local vendors. What can we expect from The San Pedro Market Day? It's held at the Honourable Louis Sylvestre Sporting Complex located on the lagoon side of the town core, locally known as Saca Chispas. So far, two market days have been hosted, each better than the next. A large variety of products and services are offered, and the best part, it is all provided by small resident vendors, no big chains here! From fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables to local cuisine, homemade skincare products, footwear, clothing, liquor, spa services, arts and craft, jewelry, plants, paintings… the list of items is endless! If you are visiting and want to take back a unique souvenir, this is the place to go! The best part is the all items are at special Market Day prices you won't find anywhere else… talk about a good bargain. The San Pedro Market Day is a fantastic event for the entire family!
