Hi Jazz,

I've been going down to AC for the past 4 or 5 Septembers...right after labor day.

Do a search for yat and you'll see my posts about AC in September.

It's a great time to go. It is hot and the sun is bright and the water refreshing and the beer is cold and the music and food is great and the people are friendly and it IS during peak hurricane season.

Have a great time. Where are you staying. I might run into you at Fido's. Joke night is Monday night.

Yes Ax, just this year, my dive instructor just mentioned to me that why I love Belize so, and do so overlook it's problems, and there are, is because I choose to. I love what it gives me, not what it doesn't. Belize is a third world country, and if that will bother anyone, then they need to reconsider. Don't expect perfect. Go to have some adventure, if you wish. Give it a shot.

All of Central America is a big step away from what most American traveler's are used to. There's Costa Rica, a little more difficult. And If you really have guts, there's Peru, really rough trip. That was the one I cried at, but still loved the experience. I could go on with stories of Honduras and Guatemala, but nothing was harder than Peru (still wonderful, it's the altitude problem). My suggestion, this is for the adventure. If that doesn't work for you, then better not go. Find a more congenial place. Travel is, afterall, a matter of choice. Belize really is so easy, and the problems are minimal. But, it may not suit others. Happily, it suits me fine.

On Ambergris there are NO problems that a average person can't deal with, just relax and enjoy your vacation. Anyone with people skills will do great on Ambergris. Ambergris is so easy and laid back, that is what most people find appealing, but it unnerves others, and they lash out.

I agree Chloe. Visitors have no reason to feel apprehensive about visiting this beautiful island.
It is enchanting, just like Axe said - the beauty, the people, and AC is not 3rd world rustic by any stretch of the imagination. Although you can book some of the older places which have that authentic caribbean feel to them, and some are just plain old, still I would say that by and large - not rustic. It is easy there. The hardest part is learning how to slow down and relax when you first get there. It is one of the most tranquil places I have ever been - but if you want action, it's there for you as well. Go and see for yourself.

Believe me, AC is not what I'd call rustic. Utila, Honduras, maybe, but not AC.

Well, let's be real here. People do sometimes get disappointed with the town and many of the houses around it, and potential visitors should be aware of that. This is Caribbean. Re lodging, you can go from $30 or $40 to $400, so certainly not rustic if you choose it not to be so. And, we have all heard the yapping (no pun intended Doggie) about the dogs and debre. So, it does have aspects that turn people off. Belize is not froo-froo. Again, my husband was disappointed when we first got there. Not me. Now he loves it as much as I do. Never have we felt unsafe there. Never have we been subjected to hustlers (although I do hear there is more of a problem on Caulker and Belize City). Don't know.

There is a spirit to Belize that you either will, or will not accept as a traveler. It is certainly one of my favorite places on earth or I wouldn't be on this board.

Hi Jazz..... My fiance and I are heading to Belize for our honeymoon from September 8-23 (first timers). We're booked to stay at Ramons the first week and are going to scope out other accomodations once we are down there for our second week. Where are you staying?

Any other September arrivals on the board?
