I stayed at Banana Beach about 5 years ago, but go back to visit with the peeps there every visit because they rock. I have not yet stayed at Caribbean Island, but I will hang there next trip because many people I know love it there. To each his own, but I don't think you could go wrong with either choice. In fact, you could just show up without a clue, pick a place, and have a fantastic vacation on the island. You can't do that many other places.

Jane, What is meant by motel-ly? Banana Beach is a far cry from a Holiday Inn, if that is what you are trying to imply. As far of the views, the courtyard suites have a beautiful view of the pool area and the ocean front suites, well they are ocean front suites, that is pretty much self explanitory.

we've had rooms at banana beach with great views. we really like it there. nice courtyard, how they planned the big pool so that the sun stays on it all day long i don't know, but its perfectly situated.
beautiful art too. one day i'm going to go shopping with Tim, he gets some beautiful work to ponder as you wander the rooms and grounds.
love that lil market across the street too, VERY handy!!!
can't wait to try the new restaurant, next week i'll be chowing down!!!!

disregard that comment then, i only based it on drive-bys. i guess i saw ther units with the construction site views; they were at a weird angle. my apologies if anyone was offended.

I also meant to add that the rooms at Banana Beach are beautifully appointed, you want for nothing. Grounds are fabulous, etc. The only reason I have not stayed there again is because I have been lucky enough not to need a hotel for other stays.

Stop the presses! I agree 100% with Anthropy's last two posts on this thread.
Also, just want to clear up that there is NO construction at Banana Beach....I think sweetjane must be talking about last year when the final phase was being built.

I've never stayed at Banana Beach, however, I did stop by while carting in the south.
While I would not comment on the property without first hand experience, I have to confess that my first impression as I walked into the pool/courtyard area was the similarity to a motel layout. This perception would not prevent me from staying at BB and is no doubt the contrast between other properties in the area that I visited that have more open layouts.
My comments are not intended to diminish the value and character of Banana Beach, however, we all have our perceptions.
If you must choose between two evils, pick the one you've never tried before.
