Thanks Ellie! Great perspective. Our time will probably include several days like you mentioned. We're a group of 9 so we don't need to go to a bar for fun and laughs.

I was in the Navy for a long time before I realized I'd enjoy a port visit more if I spent more outside of the bars.

The street vendors have safe, economical & great food for a few $. Or the Lion's club chicken dinners - cheap and for a good cause. Snorkel under Ramon's pier for free, then boat to the reef at other times for about $25. Where are you staying? Several hotels include breakfast in the rate. SP (and Belize in general) can be done for cheap.

Well their full breakfast buffet that is included in the rate ought to do you for Breakfast & lunch! So looks like you could be well under $100/day. Enjoy!

bos'n, keep in mind that you will wear only about half the clothes you take so pack up everything, then unpack, and leave half out, replace with 2 nice bottles of top notch booze, just like in the 60's/70's where you "got ready" to go out, you can NEVER HAVE TOO MUCH MONEY! Remember it spends back in the USA too, go to REI or any good travel store and they have nice web belts with plastic GI type click buckles that are money belts with zippers in them...I never leave home without carefully folding as many c-notes as ican inside and zipping that baby shut and you are good to go along with a visa debit card that needs no pin #, comes right out of your checking acct and you are set have a ball... john fmbjohn@hotmail.com denver colo.

Re-think the debit card idea, especaiily if you are not required to put your PIn into the little black box. Most cards today do not require that, unless the merchant exreslly identifies the card, and enters the data, as a sdebit, rather than a credit.

Unless yours is one which limits your liability in case of loss or theft, you could be in for a very unpleasant surprise should you lose it or even worse, the number falls into the hands of someone less than honorable. Instant wipeout. mad frown

Take the credit card and pay if off with the debit card when you get home. :p
