Hi Panchita, just got back from AC Sunday.Our first trip & we fell in love with the place.We also go to Cozumel & will return again sometime.To us Cozumel was always a great place to vist. The people are wonderful & many things to do.I always felt quite relaxed while there. San Pedro is much more laid back & and the locals are one of its greatest assets. The town itself is so small you can walk from one end to the other in minutes. It,s like no place we have ever been.They have accomadations for any budget.We prefer staying in town to really experience the local flavors.There are many places right on the beach in town,with all the places you need for getting out to snorkle or dive.We stayed at Aqua Marina Suites. Very nice place with great staff.Amigos del Mar dive boats are right out front,as well as Hustler Tours to the left for catamaran snorkle trips,which also include a stop at Caye Caulker for a couple of hours. We went to Caulker on a water taxi which is also right on the beach. I would highly reccomend visiting Caulker this way, as you can go at many different times & return as late as the last boat back to San Pedro at 5:30. Caye Caulker is really laid back & I think a good place to stay if you have a lot of books to read.Good for a day trip & bring a mask & snorkle for some great swimming at the area called the split.You can do without lugging fins as it is a small area close to shore.There are certainly some nice resorts north & south of San Pedro,but some of tend be rather isolated for our liking.Some of them,the only way to get to town is by boat & you are at the mercy of how the sea is on particular days.If you enjoy interacting with the locals as we do then closer to town may be what your looking for.Plus there are lots of good places to eat in town so that you could eat at a different place for breakfast,lunch & dinner & not hit the same place twice. Best place for breakfast is Estells right on the beach in town.Our favorite dinner was at Cicina Caramba with Blackened Snapper do die for.
