One Barrel is one of the Belizean rums, and has won the most awards for quality and taste. Although it is my personal favorite, many find it too sweet, too much of a sugarcane taste. I like it because it is has a different, smokey, molasses taste. It does not seem to go as well with Coke, but it very good with Sprite, or Ginger Ale, if you would rather not have it as sweet.
Belize produces many other rums, and you will have to discover the best for your own taste.
Belize also makes a volka, which is pretty bad, but can work with fruit juices.
If you drink local alcohol, you will spend half the money on your beverages.
