Narrowed our Mid-May week stay down to 2 properties. Ramone's looks sexier and we like quiet of separate cabanas (just us 2 traveling)but it is more expensive than Xanadu and no kitchen in Garden or Seaside cabanas, which are at our price-point (vs Ocean View @ Xanadu.)

We like free bikes, kayaks at Xanadu- don't care about incl. breakfast w/ Ramones 7 nite pkg.

Both at parity, I guess (?) w/ $99 costs for Xfers from S.P. airport and Tropic Air hop to/from A.C.

Am I missing something? Anyone have insight to sway our decision?

I can let you know about Xanadu in a couple months. We are taking our son with us over Easter. Friends told us it is a perfect place for families. I can let you know at that time.

Island Mom, do a search from above on both properties and you will get a lot of pro's and con's for each. I have never stayed at either, but being active, i am inclined to free bikes, canoes and kayaks, also have heard that the units are not as spacious at ramons for the money as you will get at xanadu,(strictly heresay). john denver

here's a thought for you, fly out of the municipal airport instead of the International and you'll cut your airfare almost in half. just catch a cab to the municipal for about $20. I don't know how tight your budget is, but that will help a little. We stayed at the Palms, next to Ramons 4 years ago, the cabanas are nice, but all very close together, this year we're staying at Xanadu, I've read great things about it, nice pool area and a little further from town (if you're looking for quiet)

Carib, we stayed at Xanadu in June and found it fantastic. It is sexy, too :-)

Great rooms, spacious, very clean, good air conditioning, super kitchen, great staff, very nice pool and beach, plenty of towels, close to market, private. I can only give praise. It was perfect for us and as hard as I think about it, I don't have any complaints. When we return we won't look for any place else. Feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions.

Thanks, all, for info. We'll call Xanadu home and spend the bux we saved flying out of municipal airport on other activities!

My husband and I stayed at Ramon's in a beachfront and had plenty of room...great beach...pretty pool but its always in the shade and always COLD. Great location for walking into town. Food was so-so and way overpriced. We had a dive package so I never really broke it down as to value for the $$. Xanadu's sounds like the winner but I couldn't let Ramon's get totally bashed when we had such a good time there.

Hey slomom...why aren't you returning to the Palms (we are booked there in Nov) any reason I should avoid it?? Also, we are being given the choice of upstirs or downstairs. (renting 2 two bedroom villas) Any opinion on which I should choose? Thanks in advance

We stayed at Xanadu last Feb and just loved it. I would highly recommend this resort. Very, beautiful well kept up and unlimited internet access. We had a laptop so we could send pic's every day to our friends in Minnesota. I have some pic's on my website if your interested. Some of Xanadu and San Pedro in general.

Me thinks sluggo is never ever gonna be a happy camper and refuses to believe anyone can have a "bad day". Obviously Ramon's would not/could not have survived as long as it has if things were indded, over the long term, as bad as stated.

Too bad he can't have the same attitude as happyiguana does. frown
