Suzanne, I am reading this thread and we are from Canada and are staying at the palms March 11, 2 weeks (4 of us ) in the top floor 2 bedroom deluxe suite.
I looked on this message board and have someone I know that lives down there for the last 20 years at 4 months a year.
I went on this web page and he has stayed at many places and we both agreed on the Palms.
I am in the hotel industry and I have found this resort what we want_____ close to town , close to restaurants and bars and renting a golf cart is very exspensive, soooo it was our choice.
From what i am hearing, we will not be dissapointed, I hope you will not be if you so choose the Palms.

Cheers

JB

p.s. when are you going?

Suzanne, Sorry for not answering all your questions on the Palms.

1. Top florr 2 bedrooms have the 2 baths , main floor 2 bedrooms have a bath and a 1/2

2. Better view but no stairs on the main

3. If you do not care about the baths like my wife, I would prefer the main floor 2 bedroom, no stairs and easy to get a drink.

Cheers

JB

Suzanne i'll answer for SLOMOM since i am married to her. The Palms is a great location. we were on the lower level facing the beach. great spot to walk out and snorkle over to the swim pier at ramones where all the jet set seemed to be staying. the palms has a nice pool, small but very private. one thing i liked about the palms is it was very close to town for a short walk but just far enough away from the bustle. we like to try different places so thats why Xanadu is our choice this time. the concierge was great as well. tip he gave us and he took us there was over to the fish cleaning docks. the canabilistic tarpon fish were there to eat the guts. amazing sea critters

addtional comment about Ramones
i thought they had a nice beach area, well kept with plenty of lounge chairs. their pool was very nice. i got a look at the inside of one of the huts they call rooms and it was a no brainer to stay elsewhere, unless you like hot, cramped spaces.

the fish cleaning docks were...hmm..on the lagoon side of town..i belieze we were on the road between the airport and town, westbound, and then a turn to the north. there was a yellow building that was the LDS (mormon) meetinghouse very nearby. I guess a more accurate discription is they are the boat docks or San Pedro marina. you know the night time parking garage for boats.
