hmmmmm.....????

It still amazes me.

Equation: topless = non-conservative?

Who set this standard? Definitely not Belizeans. Perhaps the ex-pats that wish to impose there cultural norms on their new host society.

In fact, no law has been passed against exposure of the female breast. This has been set as a precedant, in the Belizean judicial system. A law against male exposure though, does exsist.

Exposed breasts has never been an issue in Belize. Sunbathing, breast feeding, bathing, etc.. I can show you statues of women with exposed breast, feeding their infants, throughout Belize. If there was any, no matter how small, taboo in regards to breast exposure, believe me, none of the statues would have ever been erected.

Perhaps those so concerned (offended) should choose New England as an option, where the Puritan influence in still prevalent (and it's cold).

It is safe to say, the locals are fun loving and again live and let live. Many have enjoyed topless sunbathing here on the island. Being topless is "no big thang".

Enjoy it!

Klcman, this is my final post on this matter, only because you have made it personal. My name is not Johana and I resent that...You did imply that I was an ugly american and I assure you...I am not. I am suprised that a man who comes from a university community, and an artistic one at that, would be so much into controlling other people and judging other people. I am nothing short of amazed at the judgement that you and other people of your ilk, are so free to cast about regarding other people. People just want advice...not your judgement...who gave you the right to sit in rockport maine and throw stones at other people for expressing their opinion? This has occurred all too often on this board. Often I see people ask for advice and they are told to go search for it, while I look at the question, search it myself and come up with the answer, learn something myself, and help them at the same time. Help is what this board is about...not criticism. I don't want, nor do I expect, an answer to this. Please do yourself a favor...be a man and don't reply. john denver

Good LORD! One day and look at all these posts! But...once again...very little useful information. SIN, Kippe, JohnRoberts, SimonB at least manifested an interest in trying to have a rational discussion of the issue and provide some information, for which I thank them.

NYGal, Diane Campbell, I dismissed your posts summarily because they are clearly attempts to advance some agenda, rather than attempts to give an honest assessment of the social and legal climate in Belize. The posts are absurd on their face, and as such, I cannot give them any weight. They are clearly descriptions of how you wish Belize was, not how it is. This is one of the reasons there are so many posts asking about topless sunbathing on this board - there's never been a rational discussion of it here.

In an attempt to bring this topic back on course, let me add this follow-up: someone mentioned beaches where there are locals vs resort beaches. I assume where one would stay would be a resort beach? Is that a bad assumption to make?

all beaches are public and/or have public access through them

righto. its not like cancun where the resorts try to control their beachfront and not let non-guests walk on their sand.
i personally think it is more of an eyesore to have white bulbeous blobs of blubber hanging out than nice globes of glory. thats why i don't wear my glasses when i look in the mirror. and while we are at it we should ban an
yone with fur on the back. we must be more restictive in society especially in the carribean.
ps if you happen to be there while i am i'll try not to gawk. anyways i hate it when i have to brush sand off my eyeballs after they have popped out. be calm my nether regions

MissyI , So much of the info given on this board is Bull$hit, the only time they take their rosy red glass's off is when they are looking at a pair of boobs, then they whine its not the Belizean way… Just ask them if the diving is good around AC…
