Capt Morgans is very quiet, and IMO has one of the
best beach fronts on the island, you cant go wrong
with the other spots talked about, but at capt morgans every room is ocean front.. :p

O yea why take the water taxi?? rent a golf cart come and go as you please and if you get a chance give the local kids or adults a ride and get to know some of the locals, it's all part of the appeal of AC. Whatever you decide you will have a great time..

We spent our 30th anniversary at the Xanadu and it was perfect in every respect. I've never had a better stay anywhere, anyplace in 30 years.

We're planning our honeymoon for October as well. VH, MC and Portofino were all places we were considering. Unfortunately VH is closed for most of October (I think the 3-24, but I'd check). So is Capricorn. I think we're going to decide on MC. Have you looked at Ramon's? They have a beachfront honeymoon cabana, actually 2 from what I hear. I had a post up about it and the other hotels and several people told me how much they liked it. We're just thinking MC for the solitude. Oh and Portofino said they'll be done with the construction within the month.

Ahhhh, "construction done by the end of the month", almost as good as "the check is in the mail".

Hi! I would suggest you choose something closer to town than Morgan's. Victoria House is very pretty, and close to town so it's only a good stretch of the legs along the beach to get there. Staying way out on the caye entails a boat trip, or coming home early in the evening before the tow bridge shuts down for the night.

Caribbean + October = Hurricane Season. Not every year - I've been on AC in September and had a greate time. You probably will as well. My advice: if you're set on going in October, buy travel insurance and stay flexible.

Hate to contradict Marie but Captain Morgan's (3 miles) is only 1 mile further from town than Victoria House (2 miles) and the ferry doesn't close down at night it runs right through.

I'm not recommending one or the other both have their charms.

Hi Simon!

I didn't know it had started running all night. When did that happen? We were there last year, and I think they were still closing down.

Well, that makes life easier. What a good thing! Thanks for the reply.

I believe it was shortly after Hammock House opened that they started running all night. The charges are higher during the night hours but the sign by the ferry details the hours and charges.
