I am now passing the buck to RICH GUY! And Gay and David, I didn't spend my life in the boonies and I have actualy driven plenty a freeway! This is a matter of keeping people alive, no matter what highway you have driven in your life prior to coming to Belize and unfortunately more and more you will find yourself sitting watching concrete structures here as well. And why is the pay pityful? Happy penny filling, at least now you know that out of all the ones you save $35BZE a day will go to a hardworking Belizian. He will make about $200BZE a week,working six days, most likely spend a $100 on rent and the rest on keeping his family alive, obviously somebody else is making a lot of money! Are you building A BIG house?

KIPPE...Why don't you ask the average Walmart employee how much of their salary they pay for rent - I'd bet it is more that 1/8th of their salary. Also - we built with a Belizean builder - as have many others - local to the island who employs over 150 workers. He has been operating on the island for over 20 years so obviously he can't be that bad an employer (and his earnings go right into the Belizean economy). In fact he kindly agreed to let us hire his night watchman as our security guard and he happily has stayed with us for 4 years. I guess he doesn't think the money is so crappy. As for the traffic - please don't ever travel to Jamaica, Thailand, Indonesia, etc. If you saw how most of the world drives you might have a coronary. When you find that paradise where all governments are perfect and all problems have been solved please let the rest of us know.

You make a choice on where you live Kippee. You chose to live in a third world country, but everyplace has its problems - and you are sounding condescending.
