George E. Thompson

The Belize Tourism Board is deeply saddened by the loss of Belizean archaeologist, George E. Thompson, and we join our colleagues at the Institute of Archaeology (NICH) Belize in mourning his passing. We had the privilege of collaborating with Mr. Thompson on numerous projects throughout the years. His passion for archaeology, amiable personality, and willingness to work together to further the sustainable development of tourism in Belize, left an indelible impression on everyone he encountered.

On behalf of the Minister of Tourism and Diaspora Relations, Hon. Anthony Mahler, and the management and staff of the Belize Tourism Board, we offer our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues at the Institute of Archaeology. His absence will be felt widely in the heritage and tourism sectors.
