We have just begun our research into various places to stay in Ambergris Caye, originally for September but then on the website it said that that was mosquito season, so now we're thinking early December when it's supposed to be the "cool" season, but prior to the increased prices of high season.

I've read thro' some posts here and I had actually written to the hotel to find out if you COULD swim from the beach. Their web page showed a magnificent swimming pool, so that made me wonder if they were ON the beach, and if so, whether it was swimmable from shore as they have a pier.

If anyone could give me any information about this property, or suggest another, I'd really appreciate it. This one took my fancy because it's only got 48 rooms and we prefer to go to small, non commercialised type properties.

They did tell me there were about 4-6 restaurants within walking distance, but didn't list which ones, so if anyone knows, I'd appreciate that info too. We're more sailors than divers, but I'll be up for snorkelling, and we'll both be ready to just hang out on the beach, so pretty low maintenance!

If there are things that we just shouldn't miss when we go to AC, I'd love to hear about those also.
