My opinion is if you are staying on a tropical island you need to stay in a thatch roof cabana. You can stay in huge concrete bunkers in any US or Canadian city. My choice on Ambergris Caye would be Ramon's Village. The seaview and gardenview individual cabanas (casitas) are great and the air-conditioner is cold. Exotic pool & grounds, great bar and close to everything. I stayed there last week. Get your golf cart from Cholo's. On the mainland stay at my place.
