The beauty of our right to Freedom of Speech is the fact that we can participate in a good old fashioned debate. I don't think the topic has to affect your own life in any way. My dad and I do it often and one past discussion months ago was the NY Gov aka Spitzer.

To me, everybody is entitled to an opinion and we all have varying opinions in one degree or another. That is what makes the world such an intersting place!

That being said, if you are interested, do a seach on past articles in the Wall Street Journal re Spitzer. It is well documented he is considered a political bully, he proposed issuing driver's licenses to illegal aliens (a proposal I strongly disagree with, even though I live 3k miles away from NY), has been investigated numerous times and underwent an ethics probe. He has managed to wiggle his way out of these issues, but left a bad taste in the mouths of many.
