We just found out that the underwater camera housing the fits our digital camera is no longer available. So thinking that technology flies quickly, our 3 yr. old camera might be replaced. Anybody with any camera ideas for underwater?

What type of camera do you have?
You might find the housing on ebay...I did

Try the Canon powershot series. Great little cameras for inexpensive and the housings are rated to 130 feet. The housings new run around $150, the camera can be had at Target for around $199. I got the housing at Jandr.com. Best buy also has them on-line. good luck

PATLAF: We have an Olympus that needs a PT018 housing. But since you can now, 3 years later, buy a digital with lots more pixels it sounded ok to upgrade. What an excuse, huh?

I just did the same thing myself...went from a Canon Powershot S200 with 2 megapixels to an Olympus C8080 with 8 megapixels....still have to learn how to use it though...it's a lot more complicated than the Canon, but it too has the underwater casing available.

We are looking, actually, into the Olympus Stylus500 with 5mp because largely it has a 2.5 inch digital viewer, (however no optical viewer) and supposedly has great pictures, and can use it as a camcorder for as long as you have dig. card to support it (up to 1 gig).

Also looked into the Canon Sd500 with 7.1 mp., with a 2" viewer.

I would try e-bay to purchase an underwater camera. I have friends that updated their Sea and Sea. Sold that one on e-bay and purchased a Nikonos 80 for $150. Can't beat that. Everyone upgrades eventually.

I purchased two disposable Kodak underwater cameras. The pictures were great.

RobertE's suggestion of the Canon Powershot is good - excellent package so long as you don't expect SLR performance in difficult conditions. Ditto for the Casio Exilim ZX55 & housing. I've seen very good results obtained with both setups, and have several of these for rental (but only to my own divers).
