For what it is worth, I avoid Negril during spring break, etc. I am 58 years old, but not dead. Haven't been in a Hard Rock or Planet Hollywood in many, many years. However I do enjoy the company of others. What I was referring to in my comments about ex-pats is pretty much every establishment that I frequented, except for the gift shops, was owned by an ex-pat.

Once again if I said that San Pedro sucks..I didn't mean too. San Pedro is just not for me. I still think that some posts on this board are from those same expat owners, and not all are from tourists. I mean really who goes to an Island in the Caribbean and talks about swimming of off piers? I laughed my ass off when one couple walked out to the end of the pier next to Banana Beach and jumped into the water. They then started swimming out away from the beach only to find themselves back in ankle deep water. Then they couldn't get back onto the pier since there were no stairs and they didn't have the upper body strength to pull themself back up. They ended up wading all the way back to shore (75 yds or so) and then had to walk back out on the pier to collect their bag and then walk back to the beach. I last saw them arguing among themselves as they headed for the bar at Mata Rocks...lol

BTW the food at Blue Water Grill was excellent. I highly recommend the snook with caramelized onions. I also enjoyed the food at Elvi's (sp?). The cave tubing was fun, the Zoo was a waste of time. The Manatee watch was a waste of time. DO go to Hoi Chan/Shark Ray alley with Alfonse!!

No good deed goes unpunished...

I just brought 90 skydivers to SP in Feb. These jumpers have been around the world. Their thoughts on SP...friendliest vacation spot...slightly pricey on some things, dirt cheap on others..fantastic night life....AMAZING food for an island..something for everyone to do every day or nothing to do every day. And the staff at Aqua Marina and the Sunbreeze were top notch! Most of my group will be back next year! And Bobber, lighten up a little on the college kids..we were 19 once too!!! Reaper

Totally tourist~I love visiting San Pedro and I am already counting the weeks 'til my next visit...42! When I tell my friends at home what Ambergris Caye is like, it doesn't sound all that great to many of them. It must be the magic!

tourist, last year and again in 25 days! Hubby is a full time, all the time, no time off to speak of, Pastor, and the laid back attitude of AC is perfect for us. laugh

We're not dead, still full of fun, but need a quiet kinda R&R.

Somebody didn't do their homework... personally, San Pedro is too crowded for us, last time in AC we stayed up North away from it all. Slowly walking the beaches while digging "treasures" out of the sand with our toes, "spying" on the birds, fish, etc. going through their daily routine, while occassionally "hearing" the reef and trying to get the perfect sunrise or sunset pics was most of our entertainment. Walking a 1/4 mile to go swimming would not be a problem, heck, I wish there was a pier 1/4 mile long, then you could walk to the reef. Hey, maybe that explains the sea "grass".

To many of us, AC is a magical place. But then, I think we carry that magic within us. And a magical mix of characters SP is!

Thank goodness not everyone really likes San Pedro or the beautiful Caye! We'd wind up looking just like Negril or Cancun...and some of us don't really care for those locales anymore.

Hey Wanna, we'll be there at the same time. Let's get together a tip one!
