Hey Bobber, Sounds like you might be a little upset that you missed all the partying and drinking that the "College Kids" are doing. Don't dwell on the passed, Live for the Future!. I was that "College Kid" a few years back and I had no problem finishing up on my Degree and indulgin myself into a career of Serving and Protecting!

Don't be so tough!

I don't consider myself to be tough on the college kids, or anyone else. I did my drinking (on my own tab), got my education and have done quite well. I consider college kids to have great potential (but not a lot else). Let them make their mark and then brag about how smart they are (just like everyone else has to do). I put myself through school working full time as a welder, 18 hour days. Drank a bit on weekends, but paid my own freight. I don't resent those whose folks foot the bill, just object to them claiming any superiority (your daddy may be smart and have a bit of money, but that doesn't mean you are worth anymore than the next guy).
I drink only if I feel like it, fight only when I absolutely must, and jump out of perfectly good airplanes only when the jetway is improperly positioned. I still speak in cursive when necessary. Back to AC, no beautiful beaches, turtle grass everywhere, but that isn't why so many of us go back.
Vented and purged.

Been there, done that, the washing machine ate the T-shirt

Expat without a phone! I can't think of any expats who disguise themselves as tourists, we pretty much stand out in a crowd. You'll also find that most of the information posted by expats to be fairly unbiased, at least on where to go and what to do.

Man I'm glad I tuned in to this discussion. We were just in AC and I knew about the swimming. I think everyone said it wasn't that great. Like others said that wouldn't be the main reason to go. I have a 19 year old who went to Cabo for spring break. I consider my kid a great guy, but there is something that draws some kids to want to be together. I think he did say that he probably wouldn't do that again, and he thinks that a vacation with me sounds like more fun. I loved AC and the people and I hope that it keeps its small town personality. Whitefish, Montana is being overrun with money and people so it feels like we're losing the battle. Our biggest gripe used to be potholes, now it's how are we going to raise the money for an aquatic center, skatepark, theatre, ice skating rink, new hospital, fancier ski resort etc. I would give anything for us to have the simple life that once existed here. Well I feel a little better. I'd better start planning my next trip to AC!
