It seems like most ppl got Pica Pica from snorkeling & diving. Is it only in the deep water? How about just swimming near the beach/pier? I'm bringing bug repellent, sunscreen SPF 15, safe sea, and just add baby oil to my list.

When it's here it's pretty much everywhere (in the water of course.)

We just got back and all of our snorkel guides said there was no pica pica around. As far as I know it is near the surface of the water, but further out. No sign of it when we were there, just happy snorkeling.

It's on the surface. I got it at Hol Chan, and I think a few other boarders had said that is where they ran into it too. But it moves around. We snorkeled there two days before and nothing. Use the safesea and enjoy!

Our party of three was just on AC 5/21--5/26. One
in the party apparently got into pica pica. She started itching 4 days after snorkeling. The itch started on her head. Three days later she started breaking out on stomach area, under arms and along bathing suit line. Some welts also located on open areas of arms and legs. Very itchy with red welts. Also, 4 days after snorkeling, she had discolored spots appear around the top of her bathing suit line. Two benadryl tablets fades the welts but when benadryl wears off after a couple of hours the welts reappear. Does anyone know how long this PicaPica lasts? Is there any other remedy for the discomfort?

It has been recommended to me that spraying Windex on the affected areas offers some relief.

A fish and a bird can fall in love, but where will they build their nest?
