Caramba did that with us also when we were there, was glad we noticed it before leaving an additional tip. But never thought anymore about it, actually had forgotten about it till reading this thread. Guess it's just there way of doing things.

I've been to Carambas many a time and never experienced that at all.

Seems to be hit or miss....Or were these "larger" groups?

Never had a service charge at Carambas

Don't miss Mickey's (the rum cake is excellent)

BCs on Sunday

Hammock House is doing a $6 lunch special on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (if I remember the days correctly). GREAT stir fry last week. The Major had TWO plates and half of mine!

Back in the states for a few weeks and then back to SP to stay!!! Yipee!

I understand some restaurants add so and so % for large parties, but it was just the 2 of us. Our first dinner in San Pedro - thought that's the way they do things there. However, I didn't experience it w/ any other restaurants. I'm not the type to make the scene. But I felt that tipping is a voluntary reward, not mandatory when the amount is added to your bill and the customer has to pay it.

Oh..forgot to mention Manelli's coconut ice cream is delicious.

I preferred the Blue Water Grill and Fidos (best fish and chips on the island) We tried different places but I can't remember them all. I tried the restaurant beside where they did the chicken drop..excellent chicken quesdillas. Those were my preferences. shocked )

Thanks Chloe, I was grilling hubby for the name but he is in the middle of putting all our pics on a slide show for the TV. So of course my question didn't rate. LOL
