yes the compliments i get from visitors are wonderful and bring tears to my eyes.

and i ain't joking. this board is a treasure despite occasional headaches. and what makes it a treasure is the community of folks who contribute. so people that don't like something can step up to the plate and contribute.

rumncoke, i have had more categories in the past, and folks miss stuff. i ended up contracting the categories back a bit about 2000 because i started getting a lot more personal email asking questions because people weren't going to all the sections. i just added a trip report and photographs section. that might help a bit.

we can always add sections.

Having managed my own bb for a number of years i realize how much time it can chew up.

As a frequent lurker and infrequent poster, i cringe sometimes when i see what folks are posting and how quickly stuff gets blown way out of poportion.

One thing you might consider is a sticky post (nice addition btw) with a "read before posting" subject line. In this, you could set the ground rules for posting and strongly encourage the use of the search feature.

In fact, you'd probably want to do this ASAP for the trip reports section with a "how to" on posting pictures (how many times have you had to answer that one).

Without this site and this bb, so many of us would have never had the courage to vaction off the beaten path and discover this gem of a place.

Actually quite simple: "About Ambergris Caye" is for info, questions, answers etc. "General Chat Area" is where you can write as much bullshit as you want, fight, bitch and be rude. This board would be a whole lot better if people would follow this very simple rule, and a lot of us would not be wasting time checking what we thought was a about A.C.

I have been traveling the Caribbean for the last 20 years. Many of the trips have been "blind", meaning, never been there just know someone who did. The internet and chats and message boards have been a treasure of information when researching possible destinations. It has eliminated some spots we were thinking of and enhanced our desire to go to others. This particular board is without a doubt the best source of information I have ever seen. It is the most active daily and has the widest variety of participants. Thanks Marty. Even tho there are a lot of folks with time on their hands, axes to grind and monetary interests or political views, and even personal attacks, little bits of information casually dropped are quite often helpful to those considering a trip for the first time or even after many trips. The island is dynamic, changing every month.
I would like to thank you personally, Marty, and all of the other regulars who do contribute meaningful information. Thanks to those who post their trip report, positive or negative, and especially those who happen to take all the lemons offered to them and whip up some lemonade.
