Hello all! This board has been very helpful! I'm planning for a one week trip to SP next month.

How should I carry money? Should I just bring a hundred and get the rest as I need it from an ATM? Or should I rely on my credit cards?

Is it safe to leave the money in the hotel safe? In my room? Carry it?

Stayed at the Palms in Nov used safe in room had around 3k no problemo.alternated credit card and cash.

Believe atm's give Belize $ only safe in rooms appear ok just dont flash the cash.

I usually bring $300-400 USD, then use credit cards when that runs out. You have options there, most places accept credit cards.

Is crime a problem on the island

I'll let someone else answer that one but I will say, there is no need to bring ANYTHING of value aside from passports and money/credit cards. The dress is casual anywhere you go.

I'm staying at BananaBeach I email them and they told me they would cash my traveler's checks so that the way I'm going will cash a few every day as needed.
