Anybody or charity that asks for money in SP needs it!! The locals in SP do not have the kind of money the people in the US or Canada have. You have to rember you our dealing with first world and third world counties. Not saying that First world is better than anyone else. The first world contries have much more disposble income. Pedro1, if you want people to donate to you then why is your email address not on this site. If you have nothing to hide then you would not place you real name and addess on your account. If you can not do this then something is wrong.

As a private vehicle, it has to have insurance to be on the streets. Why isn't the insurance company liable for the expenses? I know we are stopped every time we're on the island for traffic stops and insurance is one thing they demand to see.

At the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital most surgeries seem to run around $1,500 Bz - all in, including icu care etc. So if she has had 3 surgeries you will be looking at a little less than $5,000 Bz. Don't forget though that recovery could take quite a bit of time - and she will not be making an income during that time. And a family member will need to stay home with her so her son or husband may not be able to work either.

One would think that the golf cart insurance should apply. One would also think that the person that caused the accident should be pitching in to help somehow.

I'm just a casual observer, but it seems to me there are an awful lot of assumptions being made here.
