Irie everyone. To everyone I talked to and expected to meet after June,2005, I must explain. Ras Safari is in San Pedro and open as often as possible. There has been a problem with my health. When we arrived my sciatic nerve was hurting....a normal ting. I went to the Polyclinic and got some shots, by July I could hardly walk, by August I was almost on complete rest, as I could hardly walk the 100yards from the house to the bar. In September we contacted my sister here in Arkansas, and she orderded me to get on a plane. SHE was taking me to the doctor! In 1996 I had stage 1 breast cancer, and before we moved to San Pedro I was clear. I had to wait for hours in the emergency room, while in pain. Finally after many tests I was told I had "breast cancer matastised to the bone!!! I am doing fair now, Robert came back from Ras Safari and will be coming back to San Pedro soon. I will stay here for now, doing treatments, but will return in 2007 to live the rest of my life. Most of all I wanted to let all I wanted to meet what happened. Also I need to research hospitals, Oncologists, and pain medication, as this illness is terminal, and the pain will slowly be getting worse. So that is what I needed to tell you and all the friends I hope to meet (Monica, where are you). You can bet that Ras Safari will be jumpin again with reggae and Robert's chicken! Love to here from anyone. Peace out! Joy

Ras: Your post hit a nerve with me. My wife's siblings have all had cancer. One brother and her sister have had breast cancer that has mastasised to bone in her brother and ovaries in her sister. Her other brother has had prostrate cancer that mastasised to the bone. Her brother with breast cancer is also terminal. Through gene testing, we were able to determin that they have a mutated gene(BRCA2) that give the whole family an extremely high chance of getting breast, ovarian and prostrate cancer. We have had our daughters tested and one of them also carries this gene. My wife has had a double masectomy and a hysterectomy since march as a preventative procedure and our daughter will probably have to do the same as she gets a little older. Anyway I did not write for sympathy, I just wanted you to know that we know what you are going through and our thoughts and prayers are with you. May God bless you and your family.

Ras Safari, I don't know you, but I want you to know that my prayers will include you and your family. Sometimes it's hard to know why we are chosen to go through something like this. I don't know the answer. It sometimes takes someone with your upbeat, positive attitude to explain it to all of the rest of us. Know that I will think about you often. I pray for miracles all the time, and maybe you will get one. We will be in SP in February, and of course will look up your establishment. If we can offer help in any way, please let me know. Best of luck in your journey.

TO ALL OUR LOVELY GALS, October is Breast Awareness Month. March your girls to the nearest Breast Center, for a digital mammogram. Digital is so clear, even a layman can read the film.
Must admit I haven't been diligent with annuals. Thought ever 3 years was good enough. I was wrong.
I've gone kicking and screaming, to a surgeon. Wonderful female surgeon, believe it or not, from BELIZE, (didn't know that when I made the appt.) she has calmed my fears, saying she will take good care of me, and all looks good to her. I'm holding her to that statement, with God's help.
The surgery is scheduled for tuesday. YES, I'm shaking...
Gals, take care of yourselves.

You're so right Chloe. Both my sister and aunt lost a breast to cancer so everytime I go for a mammogram I nag, bug, bribe and threaten all my girlfriends to make an appointment too.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you Chloe.
It's never too late to have a happy childhood!

Nova, that's what friends should do, nag bug bribe and threaten. Mine did.
I climbed upon my high pedestal of denial, BUT my friends kicked my BUTT, so I had to followup, to shut them UP.
