Message from a long time reader and long time since posting to this board. TexasCat and myself will be there to terrorize the locals on Wed. Jan. 24th. Actually we are leaving today, the 20th but are doing the turf then surf and I kaant sleep. We plan to swing from the vines around San Ignacio before dive bombing San Pedro on Wednesday. Hope to meet you Sandshaker (Tammy) and Mr. Bill if he is there yet. Yall watch out for us cuz we like to party!! We are otherwise known by our friends as Max and Cheryl. Look for the fat guy going grey headed with the petite knockout blonde. We originally booked last August to be there in Oct. for 20th wedding anniversary but Mr. Kieth changed that plan.

Hope that you have a great time in Belize. We also have to wait for our trip, until August. In the meantime, drink a Belikins for me! And have a wonderful time.

BZ, check out Black Rock. Awesome spot and cool people running the place. Caesars if you want to be closer to town. Green Haven if you like French food and a giant pool. All have links on this site.

Thanks for the info Dave. Have you ever heard of the Maya Mountain Lodge? It's in Cayo. The prices seem to be reasonable and it looks just beautiful.

Yeah, I've been to Maya Mountain Lodge. It's on the way in to Blacaneuax. Very laid back. Rustic but comfortable if you don't need luxury. Some would be bored there. Others would be in heaven. Nice little restaurant and bar. Closes early and opens early.

DD, thanks for the info. I want to stay at a place where I can relax at times but I want to be able to horseback ride, hike, swim etc. Can I do all of these at MML? Also, do you have to have a guide to do everything or can you just take a walk and explore?

Didn't see any horses there, but I'm sure some are in the area. You could ask around. Rio On is near by for excellent swimming, with natural jacuzzies. Rio Frio Cave is up that way as well. Very cool, and easy to view. Thousand Foot Falls is also close enough for a day trip. I don't think you need a guide. All of these sights are off of the main road up. Everyone knows where they are. It's very different there than the rest of Belize. Reminds me of Colorado in a way. Pines, and mountains. Cool at night so bring a jacket and sturdy shoes. Wonderful people out that way.

yes, in 1993 i went to cayo. there are some really excellent chinese resturants in san ignacio.

i stayed at banana bank ranch, and they are known for their horsebackriding stables. you can contact them for a day ride. also, i saw the rio frio cave, i thought it was absolutely awesome (by it's true defination, not the slang). then we trotted into the river pools (brrrr). we also saw the thousand foot falls, and it was a terrific adventure.

we had rented a suzuki sidekick that year and drove ourselves around. absolutely had a blast. the "inland" blue hole was neat too, but lotsa 'skeetas there.
