Need some advice! Stayed at Banana Bank last year and had a wonderful time, but thought we might like to broaden our horizons and try something new. We have 3 kids 13,10,7. Was thinking of Chan Chich, Chaa Creek and Jaguar Paw. Chaa Creek only has 2 of the 3 nights available that we need and suggested the camp.. Does anyone have any recomendations? We are an adventerous bunch, but I like a shower and a clean room!

The campground at Chaa Creekismagical- a wonderful experience for your family. Comfortable and upscale as well with a bank of hot water showers and flush toilets. Wonderful meals prepared by your Maya caretakers and served under a thatched roof palapa with tiled floors. Incredibly wel;l done and you get all the activities and tours Chaa Creek offers. Do it, it's great, your family will love it.

Thanks Katie for your reply. I assume we won't be "roughing it" if we choose to camp one night? What can you tell me about Jaguar Paw, Pooks Hill and Duplooys? Which is the best as far as kids are concerned? These also looked like fun..Is one a bettr value than the other? Thanks Lisa

I agree with Katie that the camp at Chaa Creek is a fine place (though the garden suites at the Lodge just can't be beat).

I'd also highly recommend Ek 'Tun lodge, which is in that same area but a bit farther up the Macal River. Phyllis Dart there does a wonderful job. Just two cabanas on several hundred acres of lush jungle, and the natural mineral water swimming pool there gets my vote as the best swimming pool in all of Belize. You can swim alone (nobody around to care if you skinny dip) and listen to the howler monkeys on the river. There are incredible caves on the property, too.

The two main lodges in northern Belize, Chan Chich and Lamanai Outpost, also are wonderful.

Pook's Hill and duPlooy's are a little mindful of Banana Bank, not deluxe but comfortable. Jaguar Paw is a little more upscale, with a more expensive restaurant and 24-hour air conditioning.
