There is an old statement...when you point the finger at someone, there are four pointing back at you.

I just looked at that hand jester/gesture, and only see 3 pointing back at me. Did note that thumbs up jester/gesture, does have 4 pointing back to me. But nevertheless a good reminder. Best part is, one can point to positive stuff as well as negative stuff. Life is interesting.

And that's an example of how the misunderstandings start, how people get their feelings hurt or their knickers in a twist. To paraphrase dogmatic, this can be a difficult medium of communication. When you can't see the facial expression, the body language or hear the intonation, it can be very difficult to tell how a post is to be received. Posts can be misinterpreted and then the responses can start to heat up.

The thing to remember is, that most often, our words are here forever. So don't say anything that you will be embarrassed or ashamed about when cooler heads prevail.

My mother taught me long before the internet, that the written word can hurt people for much longer than the spoken. And here, that would appear to apply equally to both the writer and the reader.

I did not mean to thump anyone. Just stating my observations. All in good exchange of ideas and conversation.

I know that Chloe because I "know" you. I was merely trying to point out how easy it is for things to be taken the wrong way.

However, if some other poster had said it . . .who knows whether they would have meant the thump or not? Who knows how Marie might react? And there could potentially begin another dialog that isn't as pleasant as some other exchanges we have here.

And by the way, Chloe, my post was not really directed at you, though I did use your comment as a starting point. So my apologies if you took it that way.

Hi Chloe and Seashell...I'm loving the both of you (watch THIS get misrepresented!!!!). To tell the truth, I would normally say three fingers point back, but I was thinking someone would take opposition to that, so said four. The truth of the matter is, we all love Belize, we don't say negative things about it, and when mistakes are made......they just are. Seashell is so right...you really can't communicate well by this mode. We do the best we can.
