This is to anybody in the great State of Texas who can give me any information about possibly relocating there. Due to my job circumstances, I am considering a move. Where do you live and why do you like it? Dislikes? Typical weather, home prices, etc. Any other comments are welcome . . .thx.
Texas is a lot closer to Belize than Northern California. That is a big plus for me!

I'm in San Antonio & we love it here. GO SPURS! I actually used to live in Fair Oaks, & my sister still lives there. I do miss Sacramento with the easy access to beach, mountains, etc. but Texas has finally grown on me after 5 years here. Weather is pretty much the same as Sac but more humidity. Cost of living in TX is WAY less than California, which is a plus ...and you're right, TX is closer to Belize!!

I like SA as well and if I didn't live in Houston, that's where I would live... BUT I do live in Houston and love it here. Exciting night life, our world famous medical center, cultural events, museums of science and the arts. NASA and the Johnson Space Center... Here's a good link to get you started: http://www.houston-guide.com/general/email.html

San Antonio is cool but Houston's not bad either. 2-21/2 hour direct flight to BZE.

Dallas/Ft. Worth area is good. We are actually in Mesquite. San Antonio, great party place. Houston tooo humid (sorry WJ, DS and all the other Houstonians). I know I'll catch hell for that but that's why I live in DFW. One good thing about Houston is Continental flys non stop to BZE and is cheaper than American ns from DFW.

San Antonio's way cooler than Houston. We're getting a new shopping mall with TIFFANY'S, TOMMY BAHAMA, BURBERRY, etc. and on and on. Now that's uptown! Lots of older areas close to downtown and a short distance to the airport that have been newly gentrified, plus you have the whole Riverwalk thing, Fiesta season and lotsa cool close-by little old German-influenced villages.
San Antonio did a good thing and renovated its downtown by embracing the Hispanic culture beginning about 20 years ago along with many other immigrant cultures that played strong in its heritage.

Well, I gotta jump in here...I was born and raised in Dallas, now living in the Pacific Northwest, but week after next...San Pedro!
I've lived all over the state of Texas and it will always be "home". I've got a "Native Texan" license plate holder for the San Pedro golf cart!
San Antonio, Austin and the surrounding Hill Country area, are in my humble opinion, the ONLY place to live in Texas.
DFW is just too darned big and snooty. The favorite "pastimes" there are eating out and shopping. It is blazing hot in the summer and can be nasty cold in the winter. What you drive, where you live, and what you do are ALL important and favorite initial questions of new acquaintances.
Houston can be fun, but it is humid as hell.
Best of luck on your move. Wherever you wind up, no doubt will be an adventure!

I agree with cindyb-the Hill Country area is the best. Lots of beautiful scenery, rivers, lakes and the best city to party in TX is San Antonio IMHO houston is very humid, and the traffic is horrid! How do you Houston people deal with it?
and Dalls is definitely snooty. Too many done up Texans with big hair, big cars, big houses & big noses way up in the air.
