99% of the jobs mentioned are occupied by Belizean's and the average pay per week is way less than minimum wage in the US.

Pedro1- Could you please private message me your answer. You said you know the answer so I would like to hear it. Funny thing about "PM." I always write "private message" because I always think of Pre-Menstral when everyone writes it. Looking forward to meeing some of you when we are down with our friends soon.

I think sheer-lack-dawg is asking because he/she currently works in a Starbucks (how else would he/she know/care about the nutritional crap in a cup of Pumpkin-poop latte...or whatever it was)! Maybe he/she wants to open a franchise on the island and needs to know how little he/she can get away with paying employees....Just a thought....

just curious, why do you want to know this? Are you considering moving here? These are two jobs that would be very hard to get unless you are a citizen. My bf is a boat captain and I have many friends who work as receptionists at hotels. All locals. If you want to move here there are plenty of things you could do. The best thing would be to start a business and create jobs for citizens. Best of luck.

Keli, why would you ask me a question here and then send me a PM asking me the exact same question? Is it because you didn't get an instant answer and you thought asking twice would make me answer faster?

Really, Keli, if you don't want me to respond to you, stop asking me questions.

P.S. I didn't respond to your PM because the last time I tried you had put me on your ignore list. I didn't feel like typing this twice, plus you asked me both on the board and in a PM, so I figured you didn't care where I respond.

And just out of curiosity, why do you post under different names?????

Law, I asked you via pm as you can see I removed it from the board. I thought it was most appropriate to ask you privately and not publically.

Antithesis - one of my top-ten favorite words - too funny when it comes out of the mouth of my 11 yr old daughter!

does she have any front teeth missing?

reminds me of when my son was 5yrs. old - came home from k'garten one day and was tossing the word obstinate around nonchalantly ( and slighlty mispronounced due to missing front tooth). Teacher was instructing the kids on vowels & consonants. All vowels were to be Mr. or Ms. Something-or-other. I said so how did O become obstinent. He replied - I heard Mom tell Grammy that you were Obstinate and I thought it was nice of her to talk about you that way. laugh

nsn-my daughter, my oldest kid, is same age as yours. now you see why i have that"i'll separate" & "no snack" gig down so well.

of course, they know i am a pushover, so they usually stop bickering and tell me they love me and i'm the best mom in the whole world. and, yeah, they end up get their snack

but curious, it didnt work here...

PB, what's wrong with your celery? Eat your veggies and you won't want so many snacks.

OK, how's this (back on track for a moment). My celery is the antithesis of the amount needed to be able to retire early and drink a Bloody Mary every morning in SP. "Editor's note (sorry, the mouse sometimes has a mind of its own ((no comment necessary)), accidentally deleted. This should be up around 8:07pm to avoid confusion."
Law, thanks for the advice. Should I take it that I need to take those veggies with a Bloody Mary?

OK, PB, I see two issues here:

1. We must teach you how to edit your own posts so that you don't have to delete them and start over out of order where they make no sense.

2. I'm still confused about your celery. If you had more celery you could retire early? How much celery does it take to retire early?

3. As far as I'm concerned, a Bloody Mary IS a vegetable. laugh

oopps - that was three issues! wink

Just rest assured that there will be enough celery in my wallet to buy drinks on touchdown. And yes, on point three, I belive you are correct.

PB - I do not know of any bars in SP that accept celery as payment - are you going to the less than reputable places? And really, how much celery can you put in a wallet?? :p

Well Law, I've visited most all of them, never had a problem. Just good negotiating skills I guess. I still got the first round after touchdown! (if that's proper etiquette)
Oh, and Ida, the drinks are only for the weekend!

The reason for discovering the asparagus was a practical one...no celery at da pub but for some reason they had a dusty jar of pickled asparagus. Thought why the hell not? Was tasty.

coolbummings - I love the Trailor Park Boys - they film the show 50 miles from here. We met them X-mas before last - went to a private screening of their 1st movie then out for drinks with them afterwards - what a blast. They all stayed in character for the evening.

Asparagus - mr. nuts b-b-q's them and they taste awesome. Marinated in sesame oil, honey, fresh ginger and tons of garlic - gotta try it...then wash 'em down with a bloody caesar or five! laugh

Yep, and real scared. Hmmmm, land purchase outside of the 50 states is going to skyrocket. And AC is looking pretty good right now. Even if I have to live on a pad on stilts in the middle of the lagoon!
