My husband and I will be in Belize starting the last week of March until the first week of May - its been a long time coming, but we have finally booked a nice long trip! Can hardly wait...! We have been thinking about starting our adventure with a stay at the TEC/Belize Zoo. Has anyone ever stayed on site overnight before? We'd appreciate your comments on your experiences and whether you'd recommend this or not.
As we arrive around noon, we thought about staying the 1st night, then doing the canoe trip in the morning and then later that night doing the noctural behind the scenes tour.
Not sure about the security of the accomodations, Will our luggage etc be secure while we explore? I realize the buildings are quite rustic and basic which we have no problem with, however, don't think we'd appreciate losing anything there are meals available if we make arrangements in advance. Any comments are appreciated.
Also, we don't know the layout of the zoo in relation to the TEC,where the accomodations are, but do understand that it can be a fair hike from the cabins to the zoo. Any comments?
