What is the cheapest way to phone the USA from San Pedro? And from USA to San Pedro? One of the things I have always enjoyed in Belize is no phone calls, but now I am going to have to be available occassionally. Cell phone? Have I lost my mind? Don't answer that. Thanks Indygal

To call the USA from Belize - buy a phone card in one of the little stores in San Pedro. We haven't done it, but you might also consider the internet cafes (I believe there are 2 now).

Buy a phone card from AT&T and use it anyplace. It's a total pain in the hiney to get through but it's cheaper than most, around .35 per minute. You can use them from BTL pay phones or the reception area in your hotel. Just dial 0 for the operator and ask for the ATT operator. They'll get you through. Also, ask your hotel reception person for the hotel email address in case someone back home needs to get a hold of you.
